Based on the world of the lauded Final Fantasy: Tactics, ESPER is an upcoming roleplay that mixes flexible character creation, a plot centering around a political revolt, and an intricate but easy-to-understand magic system. In an alternate Ivalice, a revolution has risen against the ruling House of Atkascha.
This Ivalician Revolution is fueled by magic-wielding Espers, individuals who have unlocked the power of mana within themselves. Espers and the artifacts produced by Espers have become a fixture of life in Ivalice – it was only a matter of time before they tired of the old monarchy and tried to install a new order.
ESPER is set in the Kingdom of Ivalice, familiar to people who have played Final Fantasy: Tactics. However, no prior setting knowledge is needed to understand and play in this expansive world. The Kingdom of Ivalice is divided into six regular provinces – Gallione, Lionel, Lesalia, Limberry, and Zeltennia. A seventh special region, Mullonde, falls under the control of the Church of Glabados.
Magic is one of the most crucial elements of everyday life in Ivalice. All players are automatically Espers, individuals capable of wielding magic. With a short list of exceptions, you can have whatever powers you wish to have – telekinesis, retractable claws, and even lightning manipulation! Notably, all characters are superhuman physically.
There are two member groups – Monarchist and Revolutionary – that players must choose between. Unless otherwise noted, characters default to Monarchist even if they have no strong feelings about the monarchy or are “mundane” criminals.
A lot of the elements stated above are still in flux. I’ll be putting out a wanted ad for staff soon, so if you’re interested in helping me with this site, do let me know!
